The Volkswagen 1.4 litre TSI engine has been named as the overall winner of 2009 International Engine of Year award.
The 11th annual International Engine of the Year awards ceremony was held recently at the 2009 Engine Expo in Stuttgart, Germany. The awards are adjudicated by a panel of 65 automotive journalists from all over the world.
The winning engine, which is available in South Africa in the latest Golf, Tiguan and Scirocco ranges, was also bestowed with the awards for the ‘Green Engine of the Year' and ‘Best Engine in the category of 1.0-litre to 1.4-litre'.
This is the fourth consecutive year that VW's 1.4-litre TSI engine wins the 1.0-litre to 1.4-litre category.
The TSI engines are charged by both turbocharger and supercharger and have been designed on the premise of maximum dynamics with low fuel consumption and emission levels.
