Two PhD candidates at the University of Cape Town (UCT) have focused their respective research theses on decision making models and methods that improve workplace environment. 
The African Virtual University and iHub Research have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen research in mobile learning in Africa. The joint effort will find and implement innovative mobile solutions adapted to the African context. 
Research In Motion (RIM), the maker of BlackBerry smartphones and BlackBerry PlayBook tablets, and the University of Pretoria have announced the opening of the BlackBerry apps lab at the university, a BlackBerry Authorised Academic Centre. 
Entries are sought for The Stars in Education annual competition, which recognises the achievements of teachers who have gone above and beyond their duties in the classroom. Parents, teachers, students and the public can enter community projects that are managed or have been started by exceptional teachers. Entries close at the end of August 2012.
