It's been a busy few weeks for Pick n Pay as the company finally joined the likes of Clicks, Edgars and Exclusive Books (to name a few) in the customer loyalty stakes with the recent launch of its
Smart Shopper card. The programme seems to be a hybrid between the money-back option (like the one available from Clicks) and the charity-based one (such as the MySchool card through Woolworths) in that you can choose whether you want to use the money yourself or donate it to charity. Kudos to PnP for this great idea. The retailer also announced the opening of its
second store in Zambia today.
In other news, the highly anticipated tribunal hearing for the Wal-Mart/Massmart merger this week has been
postponed till May, much to the frustration of the two companies.
There's a new show coming to the Udder, er, Mother City, with the
Cape Dairy Experience kicking off in November. Between the heifers and goats, there'll be something for everyone - including an ice cream eating competition... An
ice cream eating competition - need I say more?
