The added search facility gives Wheels24 consumers access to the widest range of SA vehicle database listings from a central point.
Nic van den Bergh, Business Manager of Wheels24, SA’s most visited portal with 129 924 domestic unique browsers, explains the rationale behind the incorporation, “By combining the portals unbiased editorial with a comprehensive vehicle search and comparative research function, Autolist becomes a one-stop approach to researching, locating and purchasing a new or used car.”
Wheels24’s Autolist offers SA consumers access to 12 000 new and used vehicles listed across various dealer groups, manufacturer groups and independent dealers. Van den Bergh explains, “We are in essence a media player, a conduit to the public. Autolist already has major players such as Supergroup and Barloworld listed, all providing a central hub of access for visitors.
“Autolist is a platform for the motor industry market to reach SA consumers in the life-cycle of purchasing or owning a vehicle.”
Van den Bergh says there has been a definitive shift in perceptions, cars are no longer sold online in the traditional sense and the internet has shifted from an acceptable to an essential advertising medium for sellers and dealers. “Our research has shown that almost 70 percent of consumers purchasing a new car will use the internet as a source of information,” qualifies van den Bergh.
