    Draft shark biodiversity plan out for public comment

    PRETORIA: Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa has called on the public to comment on the draft Shark Biodiversity Management Plan, which was published in the Government Gazette on 29 April.

    "Notice is hereby given in terms of section 100(1)(b) of the Act, that the public may submit comments on the draft plan," the Department of Environmental Affairs said.

    The plan is aimed at attaining and maintaining a favourable conservation status for resident and migratory sharks within the country, taking into account the socio-economic value of these species.

    The public can submit its comments on the plan no later than 4pm on 25 January 2015.

    Comments can be sent by post to: The Deputy Director-General, Department of Environmental Affairs, Oceans and Coasts, Attention: Mr. Gcobani Popose, P.O. Box 52126, V & A Waterfront, Cape Town, 8002 or by email to az.vog.tnemnorivne@alukepamz.
