147 alleged poachers arrested

The total number of alleged poachers arrested in South Africa since the beginning of the year has increased to 147, 64 of which have been caught in the Kruger National Park.

Since the start of 2013, a total of 536 rhino have been killed for their horns, with the Kruger National Park remaining at the forefront of the onslaught. A total of 334 rhino have been poached in the Kruger National Park in the past seven months. A total of 56 rhino have been poached in Limpopo, 55 in North West and 47 in KwaZulu-Natal.

South Africans are urged to report incidents of poaching and tip-offs to the anonymous tip-off lines 0800 205 005, 08600 10111 or Crime-Line on 32211.
