The new head office is located on the corner of Soutpansberg and Steve Biko Roads (previously Beatrix Street) in Arcadia Extension 6, Pretoria, and will be fully operational by 1 August 2014.

The services of the department will be slightly scaled down during the move period but the key services will remain available to clients.

The building is a reflection of the government's commitment towards a greener economy and environment as a whole. The design, was, in May 2013, given a 6 Green Star rating for office design by the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA).

The new Environment House building boasts, amongst other green elements, several energy efficient features which include compact fluorescent lights, environmentally friendly material and furniture, ergonometric and worker-friendly work spaces, solar generated power for the facility and will demonstrate efficient resource use.
