    More 3D screens for Nu Metro

    Nu Metro Cinemas will be adding 11 more RealD 3-D screens to its circuit, which will be operational by the end of May, the chain has announced.

    Mark Harris, content executive for Nu Metro Cinemas, said: “We are Africa's leading 3-D cinema chain, currently with 14 dedicated screens around the country and boasting the world's largest RealD 3-D screen at Nu Metro Montecasino in Johannesburg - a massive 77-foot screen. We are in the process of installing an additional 11 3-D screens over the next month and these screens will become operational by the end of May.” adds Harris.

    Nu Metro Cinemas is also proud to announce 3-D screens in Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein and Nelspruit. Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever After will be entertaining audiences in these regions on the 3-D screens in June and July, respectively. Other new 3-D sites now include Clearwater Mall in the West of Johannesburg and the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

    Nu Metro Cinema's 3-D screens can be found in:

  • Loch Logan - Bloemfontein (one 3-D screen)
  • Riverside - Nelspruit (one 3-D screen)
  • Clearwater Mall - Johannesburg (two 3-D screens)
  • Montecasino - Johannesburg (three 3-D screens)
  • Emperors Palace - Johannesburg (three 3-D screens)
  • Bedford Centre - Johannesburg (one 3-D screen)
  • The Glen - Johannesburg (two 3-D screens)
  • Hyde Park - Johannesburg (one 3-D screen)
  • Menlyn Park - Pretoria (two 3-D screens)
  • Pavilion - Durban (two 3-D screens)
  • Galleria - Durban (two 3-D screens)
  • Canal Walk - Cape Town (two 3-D screens)
  • V&A Waterfront - Cape Town (two 3-D screens)

    It is also important to note how seriously the film industry is taking 3-D as there are no less than 20 3-D films slated for release for the remainder of this year alone.
