Selim Kagee performs in SA in October

Pop-opera singer Selim Kagee, known for his classical voice since the release of his debut album ("Cry For Love") with EMI Music in 2012, is preparing a concert to be staged at Artscape Theatre from 29-30 October 2016 in Cape Town.

This musical experience gives audiences a taste of Kagee’s suave, romantic style and brand of music which has made him so popular, as he presents some of the well-known songs with a hint of India in its instrumentation.

    Evergreen songs

Fans can expect to hear re-imagined renditions of songs such as “Wonderful Tonight”, “Surrender”, “O Sole Mio”, “Can’t Help Falling In Love” as well as the title track of his debut album - “Cry For Love”.

With musical director, Raymond Verster at the helm, the concert features the Hugo Lambrechts Orchestra conducted by Riaan van Wyk, with a live band and choir. They are joined by Donné de Kock on lead violin, Babu Parker on bansuri flute, Akash Srikewal on sitar and Vishen Kemraj on tabla adding a unique exoticness to the concert.

"I love mixing things up and adding elements of surprise within a show and presenting classically inclined music with a popular sensibility in a way that all people can relate to,” Kagee shares.

Kagee is fast putting his signature on a sound which music lovers all over the world continue to love and support and now it is coming straight out of Africa.

“I’m always excited to perform with an orchestra at these performances as this will heighten the listenership experience in the way that this lush music should be consumed," admits Kagee.
