SA fights back!

South Africa recovered from a shaky start yesterday to put up a score of 279/6 at the end of the first day of the third test against England at Newlands in Cape Town.
S.A was 51/3 just after lunch after losing the toss and being put into bat first on an overcast morning. Graeme Smith and the boys are still looking to recover from the loss of the previous test, which was rather embarrassing for the world number one side.

There were no real big partnerships on the day but AB de Villiers (36) Mark Boucher (51) and Dale Steyn (26 not out) hung in long enough to hold the team together with the help of Kallis (108 not out).

There was enough talking points with Makhaya Ntini being axed from the side for Friedel de Wet, as well as the light drizzle that put a half hour delay on the game. But the major topic right now for Mickey and the boys is the batting performance of the top and middle order. Who seem to fold under pressure these last few matches and lack consistency. As this is the “decider match” the Proteas have to win to keep their chances alive if they want to take the series.

Today's play will resume at 10:15 making up for lost time yesterday and with better weather to bat in let's hope our boys can do us proud.
