RAF faces claims of R42-billion

According to a Business Report report, the Road Accident Fund is in danger of collapsing after the Constitutional Court ruled that compensation could not be limited to R25 000 for victims of road accidents where the driver of the vehicle was at fault.
The National Assembly's transport portfolio committee is considering the RAF (Transitional Provisions) Bill that seeks to provide interim measure for dealing with claims that were limited until 2008. Business Reports says if the law is not changed the fund may face financial ruin, Business Report reports.
