This follows the success of the Thoughtful Path's community food garden, which has been supported by Shoprite since 2019 and has seen more than 400 community members receive permaculture training.

The Trees and Gardens for Home project is aimed at further greening the community and growing food. The trees will be planted at 250 households around The Thoughtful Path Community Garden.

"We are committed to building the resilience of the communities in which we operate, and with this project we aim to ensure that the community becomes even more sustainable," said Sanjeev Raghubir, sustainability manager at the Shoprite Group.

"Tree planting at homes will ensure that local food security, economic empowerment and environmental sustainability are addressed and as such we are thankful to Shoprite for their consideration of the project," commented Betty Nkoana, founder of The Thoughtful Path.
