"Strong women - be them, hire them, mentor them." - Kate Schrire

With one week to go until the Johannesburg leg of Business of Design, I interview the inspirational Kate Schrire of The Creamery Ice Cream Company. We talk about the importance of slow food and sustainability, why community is important for business owners, what it means to be a woman in business, and ice cream of course.

Amazon launched its first Prime Air-branded cargo plane last week to speed up shipments between its distribution centres and ultimately delivery for its Prime subscribers. Called Amazon One, the plane is one of 40 planes that Amazon has agreed to lease through air cargo partners.

In other news, Pioneer Foods has agreed to acquire the entire share capital of UK-based Streamfoods for £7.5m. Its fruit snacking brand, Fruit Bowl, is well positioned to generate growth in the health conscious UK and European markets, says Thushen Govender, international business executive at Pioneer Foods.

We hope you have a restful, empowering Women's Day tomorrow. Click through to our #WomensMonth special section for a reminder of all the other inspiring businesswomen we've featured so far this August.
