The Garmin Fitness "Glory" campaign launched in November 2010 has been nominated into two categories for the Virgin Active Sports Industry Awards taking place on 23 February 2012.
"'Glory is not a destination. It's a journey.' This is our mantra at Garmin and we believe that the introduction of the Fitness product category and the subsequent 27% increase in sales was a reflection of the cutting-edge concept developed by Volcano," commented Walter Mech - Garmin Director Group Marketing and Sales.
Garmin Southern Africa and partner agency, Volcano Advertising, have received local and international recognition for the "Glory" campaign following its explosive introduction on TV. Shortlisted within the 'Best Integrated Sport Marketing Campaign' as well as the 'Best TV Sport Commercial' categories - the "Glory" campaign is still receiving attention after almost a year.
"The TVC depicts the inner battle of an athlete and his quest for glory, which was magnificently portrayed in an epic TVC. Our campaign involved multiple touch points including, promotions, public relations, point-of-sale application and print. Garmin Fitness is now seen as a serious contender showing growth and measurable results - globally this was one of the most successful launches for Garmin and a proudly South African moment for the marketing and advertising industry," conclude Mech.
