On Friday the 22nd July wine makers, industry leaders, Cape wine masters and media gathered at the 300 year old Meerendal Estate to attend the Novare Wine Awards Luncheon.
Pre-drinks were held under a magnificent sweeping Bedouin-style tent after which guests were lured into The Barn for the Awards Ceremony and luncheon. The venue was adorned with 10-seater round tables covered in ivory damask linen and a roaring fire creating a warm atmosphere for the hearty lunch ahead. Name place settings and menus printed onto acetate in black calligraphy with black velvet ribbon and berry detail added a sense of understated elegance to the occasion. Low round glass vases with paper bark, flower heads and “caged” lattice vine structures formed striking centre pieces. Around the periphery of the venue tying in with the centre pieces, conical shaped uplit vine encased sculptures on metal plinths showcased the various Award Winning Wines. Uplit crisscross bronze and chocolate brown screens formed the perfect backdrop to the stage for the Awards Ceremony.
Award Winning Wines impeccably complemented the flavours of the carefully selected luncheon menu. A delicious chocolate fondant with vanilla bean ice cream to offset the Award Winning sweet wines further tantalised the taste buds.
As the late afternoon set in, guests mingled and socialised in the “lounging nooks” after which Award Winning Wines packaged with the Novare Terroir branding were handed to guests as memoir to a fabulous Terroir Wine Awards experience!
