Workers who make the official Bafana Bafana replica shirts say that R599 is too high a price for the product at retail level - especially since it only costs between R100 - R150 to produce. Are we paying too much?

Why bother?????-
I think it's nauseating how the same South Africans who wouldn't pay R599 for an official Bafana jersey are more than happy to fork out that much, if not more, for a Chelsea/Manchester United/Liverpool jersey but would rather wear a knock-off when it comes to purchasing their own country jersey! How about not buying one in the first place, rather than buying a knock off and show how seriously unpatriotic you all are! Posted on 18 May 2010 14:52

Official soccer jerseys-
Well, all things equal, that sounds like a fair comment. However, one should consider the many poor and marginilsed who will scarcely be able to afford electricity this winter to watch the game, let alone fork out R599 to buy a t-shirt. Also, I happened to have been one of the less fortunate students, so even if I wanted the real deal, all I could have afforded was ama fong kong. Finally, considering the costs of making the t-shirt is only R150 max, why should we buy R600 for it again?! Is the money going towards charity or something or is it just to fill the pockets of big-shot manufacturers? Posted on 18 May 2010 15:05

Official jerseys-
Come on guys, support our country, don't be so dis-interested. Who actually cares where the money is going to? I am sure that you buy other items of clothing to wear, that is branded or labelled for more than the price that is asked for the jersey. Most of us wear labelled clothes, don't we? lets wear our jersey with SA pride. Posted on 19 May 2010 12:59
BAFANA SUPPORTER
THEY ALL COME FROM CHINA ANYWAY-
The genuine articals are way over priced - as niether product is manufactured in SA, you are supporting the right team which ever shirt you buy - so rather support the poor by buying from a street vendor than some fat cat corporate bussiness who does not need the money Posted on 21 May 2010 13:40

Value-
Maybe a fairer markup would excite our patriotism. Where are the profits going ? Posted on 19 May 2010 13:04

Soccer shirts for girls-
I'd be happy to pay if I could find a soccer shirt that was a Woman's size and fit. All manufacturers have just considered children and men.
Girls also support the sport!! Posted on 19 May 2010 15:16

Remembering the Loyal supporters-
We have access to the internet, sit at office desks, etc. There are those that clean these offices or clean our homes and get paid R500 a week if they are lucky and they leave in the shacks and travel by the trains (which are usually on strike) and they forfeit their monthly tickets like they can afford to and end up travelling by taxi because they can't lose their jobs. They genuinely cannot afford to pay R599 for 1 shirt when they are a family of 5.Not to mention that they are the LOYAL SOCCER SUPPORTERS (not only because there is the 2010 hype & expensive jerseys going around but because they are passionate about Football and they support local teams like Chiefs, Pirates etc). They don't even know how to log onto the internet and post their comments like us even though they are the true supporters of the game. Let's not insist that people can afford to pay R599 for a Bafana Bafana jersey.I am proud we are hosting this world event and all but come on now people, let's not forget, there is poverty in our country and there is no need to forget that - for the sake of the R599 jersey. The other option-
is to buy a patriotic 'not FIFA authorised' jersey. That way you pay a reasonable price, show your loyalty and reward the people who made it rather than FIFA who are frankly getting on my t&*s. closing down businesses near stadiums (i don't have one) is just not right and the things they have done to the hospitality industry as well as SAA (not in these either) by making huge prebookings which they are now cancelling is just rude. F#$K FIFA! - but also don't support crime - buy a non official jersey (not in this business either!) and have fun. Posted on 21 May 2010 11:57

Bafana soccer jerseys-
All said if you are a mega supporter of Bafana you will most probably pay that price but frankly they have not impressed me. Why buy or go into a thing if you don't believe in it! Therefore I bought myself a Spain T last night just to anoy the 2-3 Bafana supporters at work Posted on 21 May 2010 13:21

Soccer Fan Jerseys-
These jerseys are expensive BUT they cost the same as buying any other sporting team's jersey. Springboks, Proteas, etc. If you want a less expensive top buy one of the t-shirts made by Woolworths or Edgars. You are then still supporting our country and team in something original. In the spirit of the you know what..-
As much as I would like to wear the bright yellow T, I have never and will never pay that for a T-shirt! I do invest in quality cloting especially for sports but I don't even pay that for a pair of shoes. Would defniately not buy the knock-off either simply because I don't agree with the principles of the business! Posted on 24 May 2010 16:01
