This week has seen several local retailers and international brands take huge strides across not only Africa, but the global playing field. Mr Price is planning its first
stores in Australia; and Woolworths' recent Ozzie acquisition, David Jones, is
branching out into New Zealand. Botswana-based Choppies is
extending its African borders to Kenya, while coffee brand
Nespresso is launching into Senegal, with its first store opening in Dakar. Meanwhile,
Spar is eyeing the Indian market, and is aiming to have 25 stores up and running there by 2017.
Speaking of taking strides, this will be my last appearance as editor of Bizcommunity's Retail newsletter. After more years than I can count on one hand as the head of this particular portal, I will be shifting industries, with Jessica Taylor taking over the reins here. I'd like to thank our readers, contributors, PROs and news sources for all your support over the years, I couldn't have done this without you. This is not "farewell" though, merely "see you around".
Take care and have an amazing week!
