    The prizes

Up and coming artists and bands have a shot at winning R250,000 worth of prizes, which includes a collaboration with their favourite Jäger Music artist on their very own track. To add to to this, winners get to shoot a music video for the recorded track.

The collaboration, depending on the genre of music that the artist presents, will be with local heavyweights Francois Van Coke, Jack Parrow or Reason. The winner will also be included in the Jäger Music Program for 2017 and become one of the signed Jäger Music Artists.

“The objective of Back The Artist is to discover a young local artist or band that offers an exciting, fresh and trend-setting sound. Through this initiative we can connect artists through Jäger Music and provide the platform along with guidance to grow local talent,” says Bea Theron, Jägermeister South Africa’s Music and Events Manager.

    Event and seminar

The public will get a chance to vote for their favourite artist online, standing a chance to see them battle it out live on stage at the Jägermeister Back the Artist Finale and Seminar being held on 14 October at the Good Luck Bar in Johannesburg.

This event and seminar will be open to the public and will include speakers such as Grammy Award winner Darryl Torr and musician and music promoter Gareth Wilson. The idea of the seminar is to discuss key topics as well as hold a Q&A on how to make it in the South African music industry.
