Free football musical in the North West

African Dream is presented by non-profit organisation Seboka Training and Support Network with support from the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund. The musical is aimed at youth audiences, who can come and see it for free in various venues across the North West. At the same time, workshops will also be held to heighten awareness of HIV and AIDS through the use of drama, music and dance.

Using evocative poetry, narration, music and dance, the large cast takes the audience from the crushing blow of losing the 2006 bid by a single vote, to the elation of winning the right to host the 2010 event on behalf of Africa - an opportunity to prove to the world that the continent is capable of great things. Expect a vibrant production bursting with energy, music and movement, with vuvuzelas and whistles capturing the excitement of the coming football spectacular.

The venues

African Dream can be seen at the following venues North West Province:

• 27 to 29 April: Mmabana Theatre, Mmabatho. Performances start at 6pm.
  
• 5 to 8 May: Mmabana Theatre, Taung. Performances start at 6pm
  
• 12 to 15 May: Escapades Theatre at the Tusk Rio Resorts Complex, Klerksdorp. Performances start at 6m.

Dance, drama and theatre-management workshops will be hosted at all performance venues on the following dates:

• Mmabatho Mmabana's on 28 and 29 April at 10am
  
• Taung Mmabana's on 8 and 9 May at 9am
  
• Klerksdorp at the Escapades Theatre on 14 and 15 May at 9am

During May, the roadshow travels to Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, before wrapping up in East London in June.
