African Dream is presented by non-profit organisation Seboka Training and Support Network with support from the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund. The musical is aimed at youth audiences, who can come and see it for free in various venues across the North West. At the same time, workshops will also be held to heighten awareness of HIV and AIDS through the use of drama, music and dance.
Using evocative poetry, narration, music and dance, the large cast takes the audience from the crushing blow of losing the 2006 bid by a single vote, to the elation of winning the right to host the 2010 event on behalf of Africa - an opportunity to prove to the world that the continent is capable of great things. Expect a vibrant production bursting with energy, music and movement, with vuvuzelas and whistles capturing the excitement of the coming football spectacular.
