New Golf R boasts with newly designed engine

The Volkswagen Golf R, which has since its launch in February only been available with a direct-shift gearbox, is now also available with manual transmission.
New Golf R boasts with newly designed engine

The Golf R is powered by a newly designed 206kW engine (380Nm of torque available from 1800rpm). Like all previous Golf R models, the new model also transfers its turbocharged engine power to the road via a permanent all-wheel drive system. In this case, it is the latest version of the 4MOTION system with a fifth-generation Haldex coupling.

A newly configured sport suspension system (body height lowered by 20mm), coupled with the new progressive steering system and ESC Sport ensures that the dynamic driving experience is exceptional. Optional features include dynamic chassis control (DCC) system with the driving profile selector that features a new race mode.

The Golf R with a manual transmission reaches 100km/h after just 5.2 seconds. The car's top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h. The fuel consumption is down from 8.5 to 6.9 l/100km compared to that of the previous model. The new Golf R is equipped with BlueMotion technology that offers stop-start system and battery regeneration.
