Old Mutual Encounters Concerts presents Joburg Kid's Day

The Old Mutual Encounters Concerts is excited to present Joburg Kid's Day at the Emmarentia Botanic Gardens, Johannesburg on 6 September 2009. The day will be filled with exciting entertainment, with an action-packed program of fun and activities galore for the whole family to mark Old Mutual and Johannesburg City Parks celebrations of National Arbor Week.

Taking centre stage will be everyone's favourite Beautiful Creatures, featuring fun and educational songs about African animals. Joined on stage will also be live musical stage performances from Fame Academy, Cappuccino Girls, Antoinette's Marionettes, Giant Puppets and the Hollow Tree Theatre.

Get swept up in the spectacle of splendour, with more entertainment from the Koowee play area, stilt walkers, balloon sculptors, local mascots, arts and crafts activities, clowns, face painters, Adventure Island jumping castle and four other fun-themed jumping castles. There will also be a merry-go-round swing, a Kiddies Ferris Wheel and much more to see and do.

Engage the whole family in the excitement of the Old Mutual Encounters Joburg Kid's Day which promises to be a truly extraordinary experience and treat for all ages. And remember the best thing about kid's day is…it is free for all under the age of 12.

"Johannesburg City Parks will use the platform to highlight the importance of nurturing 'green kids' who are in tune with the environment," stated Luther Williamson the managing director of Johannesburg City Parks. "Children need to be taught to respect their open spaces and to live in harmony with nature," added Williamson. City Parks will be planting established street trees across the City of Johannesburg to observe Arbor Week as part of its target to plant 200 000 trees by 2010.

Tickets are available via www.tunegum.com for R50 and at the gate R70. Kids under the age of 12 may enter for free. Patrons are urged to buy tickets before the time as if a concert is rained out, the ticket may be used for any of the other Old Mutual Encounters Shows at Emmarentia Botanic Gardens for the same monetary value. Also, please remember that no alcohol, glass or cans will be allowed into the venue.

Gates open at 12h00 on 6 September
