FIFA World Player of the Year - Cristiano Ronaldo

A short film - ‘Love / Hate' - from Nike Football has gone live to celebrate Cristiano Ronaldo's triumph in being named FIFA World Player of the Year.

In winning this Award, Cristiano becomes only the second player in history to win the FIFA Golden Boot Award, Ballon d'Or and FIFA Player of the Year Award in one season.

As a result of his phenomenal talent and success, Cristiano's every pass and move on the football pitch is analysed. Cristiano splits the world of football down the middle; he is adored by his fans and disliked by his adversaries. Cristiano is even silently worshipped by those fans who wish they could have him on their team.

For Cristiano, the Love and Hate reactions to him are not only ‘not a problem'; they are actually something that he takes to heart and that make him stronger - as a player and as an individual.

The film highlights both sides of the debate by showing football fans voicing their views on why they Love and Hate him. The people who Hate him do so because of his success on the pitch. Watch out for Cristiano who makes a playful cameo appearance in the film - it's not Cristiano as we know him.

The debate rages on and we see more and more voices join and a video mosaic portrait of Cristiano Ronaldo is created. The film ends on a shot of Cristiano Ronaldo with the line ‘Your Love Makes Me Strong' and ‘Your Hate Makes Me Unstoppable'.
