Holi Festival of Colours comes to Cape Town

The Holi Festival of Colours 2013 World Tour, the first to take place in Europe, is now coming to Cape Town to transform Sahara Park Newlands on 12 October, 2013, into a multi-coloured dance floor. It forms part of more than 10 countries and over 30 cities worldwide. The Mother City will come together in this open-air venue and fill the space with bright yellows, reds, greens and blues in the sky, on beaming faces and lifting up from the floor on the beat of moving feet and the music that drives it.
Holi Festival of Colours comes to Cape Town

Holi is one of the largest festivals in India announcing the arrival of spring and the passing of winter, and marks the victory of the good over the bad. During the celebrations the caste system is out of force and so all people are equal - the symbol of that is the colours - all people are equally coloured. The festival breathes an atmosphere of laughter and is an expression of joy with people burying their hatchets and throwing their worries to the wind. The Holi Festival of Colours supports one of Holi's biggest customs of loosening the strictness of social structures and bringing communities together in an exhilarating experience.

Every hour on the hour, from 3pm, a countdown culminates in party-goers throwing their powder into the air to create a massive explosion of colour. The coloured powder is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and allergen free.

First phase line-up

The first phase line-up includes big names such as LCNVL, Mi Casa, Roger Goode and Pascal & Pearce with the second phase line-up being released later this month.

Locnville (LCNVL) is a multi-award-winning and best-selling electronic duo consisting of twin brothers, Andrew and Brian Chaplin. Their latest offering, "Faster Longer Mixtape", has spawned the chart-topping singles Closer and The Year 3000.

Mi Casa is a band with unique individuals who bring their explosive talent together to create a unique and original sound. The band members consist of Dr Duda, producer and club DJ, J-Something, vocalist and guitarist, and Mo-T the trumpeter. They blend their musical talent to create a soulful sound which incorporates soulful vocals, the guitar, keys and the trumpet.

5FM DJ Roger Goode has more than 10 years' experience producing and hosting a variety of radio shows on radio, digital and online channels and live broadcasts from Ibiza, Miami, New York and other party destinations. Goode was first signed to Pete Tong's London Records for his legendary dance track In The Beginning. He has since produced and released various albums, compilations and remixes available in store and online.

Pascal and Pearce's success is not only at home in South Africa, but topped the charts abroad, garnering plays from the top house DJs around the world, including a slew of remixes. The pair has done official remixes for local artists, such as Locnville, Goldfish, Flash Republic, Zebra & Giraffe, Goodluck and Lady Lea, and are continuously working on their sound in a way that is both organic and constantly evolving.
