SA developers achieve iconic milestone for Mozambique development

KwaZulu-Natal based development and property management company, The Beekman Group announced today that it had launched a sectional title development in Mozambique.

"San Martinho Beach Club, which is located north of Maputo, is one of the first horizontal sectional title developments to be positioned outside an urban area of Mozambique," says John Beekman, CEO and Founder of The Beekman Group.

"Traditionally Mozambique authorities have only approved vertical sectional title developments, therefore we are very excited to be one of two developments to have received their approval. Although the process has taken us more than a year to achieve, we have worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers Maputo to ensure full compliance with all the legal requirements concerning the resort development and the development and sale of private holiday homes of this nature in Mozambique," he says.

San Martinho Beach Club is situated in the idyllic seaside town of Bilene and is set amidst 43 hectares of lush, tropical gardens with 1.3 km of pristine private beaches. An initial investment by The Beekman Group and its Mozambican partner has ensured that the resort already comprises of eight luxury duplex beachfront apartments and two luxury villas as well as completed infrastructure which includes an entrance and gate security, a club house, games room, gym, adventure putt-putt, rim-flow pool, swim-up bar and a show unit.

"Before launching this investment opportunity we wanted to be able showcase the quality and charm of this exclusive development and, more importantly, we wanted potential investors to be able to experience San Martinho Beach Club firsthand," says Beekman.

San Martinho Beach Club will comprise of three exclusive villages, namely Villa Praia (Beach Village), Villa Floresta (Forest Village) and Villa Estrela (Village of the Stars). "Together the three villages will include 165 freestanding villas. The 180 square metres units are constructed with bricks and concrete and not a timber frame or prefabricated construction which is common in Mozambique," explains Beekman.

The launch of phase A includes 36 lavish freestanding Villa Praia houses which are situated on the resort's gorgeous white beach, a mere stone's throw away from the lagoon. "People can own their very own Sectional Title unit in a tropical paradise from $255,000. Essentially, San Martinho Beach Club gives investors the opportunity to own a selection of luxury freestanding villas whilst also generating rental income through the Beekman Managed Portfolio," confirms Beekman.
