I'm not going to rabbit on much about
Design Indaba in this editorial column, as I'm saving it for the special edition newsletter which we will be putting out later this week (hint: send your press releases and gallery contributions for editorial consideration by end of Tuesday afternoon for possible inclusion, or forever hold your peace).
What I will say is that, once again, it was a well-run, thought-provoking and inspiring conference that was jam-packed with wonderful ideas showcasing how design is truly cross-discipline and should be part of
everything we do. And the Design Indaba expo was crammed with the most wonderful, high quality South African design and craft, so much so that I'm still not sure I saw everything, despite having spent at least five hours perusing it over three separate occasions.
Coinciding with Design Indaba was the
official launch of the new
Brand Council of South Africa, which incorporates the
Brand Design Council (formerly known as THINK). Its identity was also unveiled, a bold stylised 'zigzag' emblem designed by Grid.
So
who's won what recently? The
big news is that Edgars has gone to M&C Saatchi Abel and Foodcorp has found a new home with Joe Public.
Last but not least, the
2012 Biz Trends Report is now
available for downloading in pdf format (3.8MB). To the 70-odd contributors who sent in their trends, packed with insight and advice, in response to my invitation, a heartfelt thank you to you all - you leave me speechless at your generosity in sharing your knowledge with the wider biz community.
Happy reading!
