I started with the City of Cape Town on 25th September 1989 as a law enforcement officer and as a peace officer enforcing all council by-laws. I passed my promotional exams and became a sergeant and subsequent Inspector performing supervisory functions and leading a few officers.
I attended various training interventions to make me a multi-skilled and competent Law Enforcement Officer; First aid, ambulance (BAC); Advanced Firearm, SWAT (CPU), Advanced driving, horse riding, Lifesaving (OC), Self Defence (Goju Kai Karate), and various other short courses for skills development. I managed the court section and liaised with the prosecutors, magistrates and the public on a regular basis. I am appointed as Assistant Clerk of the court for 10 of the Municipal courts within Cape Town. I assisted in training programmes and assisted in staff training which included Law Enforcement Officer's course, training in writing of "Written Notices", (Section 56 & Section. 341 Spot Fines) as well as the execution of both Section 54 summonses and Warrants of arrest. Training included court procedures and processes.
I have the relevant experience in co-ordinating a project in that I was managing the office as Project Co-ordinator, Municipal Courts Processing Office, Legal Services (Acting Manager for that Legal Processing Office) for City of Cape Town for or about 6 years and have plenty work experience. I managed the office functions, staff, assets and other resources. Managed the admin functions, staff recruitment and selection, disciplinary, training and budgets.
I obtained HR-exposure and experience when working within the HR Department as an HR Practioner for about 2 years, Recruitment & Selection, Training & Development, and Skills Development Section as a Corporate ETD Representative.
I am currently working for the City Ombudsman (City of Cape Town) as an Investigating Officer in a level four (4) reporting line position, dealing with both management (middle to top) and the public. Facilitate meetings and mediate resolutions between the departments and the complainants in finding a common solution to the disputes or problems. Conduct site inspections and site meetings and interviews with claimants and other role players in order to collect evidence and information needed to find any resolution. Do research and formulate responses and recommendations in solving any matters of complaints. Conduct general admin and managerial duties.
I am a dynamic person who is committed and passionate about my work. I believe in change and I am willing and able to learn.
