The irony that I'm grappling with is that a ranking like the Holmes Report Top 200 is in and of itself a type of award.
Admittedly one that is as non-subjective as possible, but one that shares many of the valuation problems, and one that is biased to the idea that bigger is always better.
You are spot on. The only real way to get a valid measure of performance is a solid survey - a 360 degree revue of suppliers, taking into account staff, clients and the general public's perceptions. And like they say in the classics: good luck with that. | I'd be interested to see this same analysis looking at density by disposable income.
Strip out population density and overlay population profitability. A large number of people does not mean a large amount of money to spend.
