Chantelle Jansen
I have recently completed my M.Sc. focusing on Nematology and Microbiology in Plant / Crop protection. I am looking for a research and development vacancy in the agricultural industry. I am a hard worker and eager to learn. I did a B.Sc. microbiology and Zoology and a B.Sc. Hons Plant protection, both of which I received with distinction.

Summarising myself in a few words I would say that I am hard working, eager to learn and loyal. I am trustworthy and always finish what I start and to everything to the best of my abilities.
My studies focussed on agriculture and sustainability. I did a study on the microbial communities and nematode diversity in soybean based ecosystems. Here I did the following:
- Obtained samples from various farms in the soybean production areas of South Africa.
- Performed Phospholipid Fatty Acid (PLFA) analysis on various samples obtained.
- Isolated nematode from soil samples including plant-parasitic and non-parasitic.
- Identified nematodes up to functional group (plant-parasitic and non-parasitic) or genus (free-living / non-parasitic).
During my studies at the North West University, Potchefstroom campus I received my B.Sc (Microbiology and Zoology) and my B.Sc. Hons (Plant protection) with distinction. During my honours studies I tested biological control agents and other products against root-knot nematodes during which my responsibilities where to:
- Isolate and grow bacterial strains from commercial products.
- Do in vitro testing in laboratory.
- And extract nematode eggs and juveniles.
My future job will be done with integrity and responsibility. Agricultural sciences, crop protection, and microbiology is my niche and I love laboratory work. Analyzing soil samples through microbiological testing would be preferred. Focusing on environmental sustainability to ensure a green future for South Africa and its agricultural industry.
