Since I arrived in Gaborone in June 2011, the retail environment has just been getting better. One of the initial reasons that I rented our house in this area, (Broadhurst Ext 44) was the large sign, less than a kilometre away, that read "Sebele Centre opening end June - Pick n Pay, Woolworths and many more shops".

The effort made by TCM to recreate the wonderful land of Oz was exceptional; great décor and characters dressed to perfection - a wonderful cowardly lion, flying monkeys darting here and there, and my personal favourite, the witch, who attempted to lure guests into alleys and dead ends.

The Nando's Jozi Comedy Festival opened last night, Monday 26 July 2010, at the Teatro in Montecasino and audiences left holding their sides from a two-hour comedy workout that spared no one in its biting satirical moments. From the moment, Jonathon Arons of the US opened with his trombone act, the audience knew it was at the 'United Nations of Comedy'.

There were only two Gold Eagles awarded this year in the Eagle Print Awards, sponsored by Independent Newspapers and the Inc: one went to King James (Cape Town) and the other to DDB South Africa. Continuing the Cape flush, a sweep of Bronze Eagles winged their way to Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town) at the award evening held earlier this week at the refurbished Alexander Theatre in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
