Your quick health fix for the New Year
While drinking lots of pure water is good for you, always drinking it with ice is NOT! Sure if you are hot and want to cool down, enjoy a cold drink. BUT ice cold anything puts a strain on you digestion. Your system has to first heat whatever you swallow to body temperature, before it can digest it. While this may burn a few calories (a whole kilo a year?), it is hardly worth the constant strain on your tummy for that minor gain. Also a really good idea to avoid drinking for a while after eating, as the drink will wash away the digestive juices which your stomach is using to break up the food.
