Simone Zanetti challenged marketing leaders to rethink AI in the age of synthetic attention at Marketing Café 2026

Marketing leaders from across South Africa gathered at Marketing Café 2026 to explore one of the industry's fastest-changing challenges: how to compete for human attention in a world where artificial intelligence has made content creation virtually limitless.

Simone Zanetti, founder of the Zanetti AI Institute and creator of the Zanetti AI Framework, delivered both a keynote presentation and an interactive masterclass, challenging delegates to shift their focus away from AI tools and towards the judgement, governance and strategic thinking required to use them effectively.

His keynote, The Three-Second Revolution: How AI is Rewriting Marketing in the Age of Synthetic Attention, examined how advances in generative AI, synthetic media and hyper-personalised content are transforming the way audiences discover, evaluate and trust brands.
Addressing senior marketers, strategists and business leaders, Zanetti argued that the competitive challenge is no longer access to AI technology.

"The problem is no longer access to tools. It is orchestration. When content becomes unlimited, attention becomes scarce."
Drawing on neuroscience, behavioural psychology and commercial marketing case studies, the keynote explored how the human brain filters information within moments, making emotional judgements long before rational analysis takes place.

"The first few seconds determine whether people engage or ignore," Zanetti explained during the session. "Artificial intelligence has amplified creativity, but it has also amplified noise. Organisations that understand how attention is earned will build a significant competitive advantage."

Rather than focusing on prompt engineering or individual AI platforms, the presentation centred on practical business strategy. Delegates explored how predictive intelligence, emotional relevance, governance and responsible AI adoption must work together to produce measurable marketing outcomes.

The conversation continued during Zanetti's four-hour masterclass, Building Your AI-Ready Marketing Engine: From Chaos to Precision in the Age of Synthetic Attention.

Designed for marketing professionals already experimenting with AI, the workshop focused on helping organisations move beyond disconnected pilots and isolated tools towards structured, repeatable operating models.

Participants worked through practical frameworks covering:

  • Hyper-personalisation at scale.
  • AI-assisted content creation and optimisation.
  • Data orchestration, governance and responsible implementation.
  • Building repeatable AI-enabled marketing workflows that support long-term business performance.

Throughout the sessions, Zanetti emphasised that organisations achieving the greatest return on investment from AI are those that combine technology with sound leadership, commercial judgement and disciplined execution.

"In a market saturated with synthetic content, trust becomes the ultimate differentiator," he said. "AI will not replace creativity. It will expose who truly understands it."

Marketing Café 2026 brought together marketing executives, strategists, agency leaders and decision-makers for practical discussions on the future of marketing. Zanetti's keynote and workshop formed part of the event's programme focused on preparing organisations for the next generation of AI-enabled business and marketing capability.
