Senior PHP Magento Developer

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Magento Developer to join our growing development team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Magento 2, e-commerce development, PHP, and modern web technologies, with a proven ability to build, enhance, and maintain high-performing online stores.

In this role, you will work closely with developers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable Magento solutions, troubleshoot complex technical challenges, optimize website performance, and ensure seamless integrations with third-party systems.

What we’re looking for:

• 8+ years' commercial software development experience
• Strong hands-on Magento 2 experience
• Excellent PHP development skills
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles
• Strong MySQL experience
• Experience developing Magento modules, extensions and custom functionality
• Solid understanding of Magento architecture
• Experience working with REST and/or SOAP APIs
• Good knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Experience with Git and source-control practices
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Experience working with Linux-based environments

Advantageous:

• Magento 2 certification.
• Adobe Commerce experience.
• Magento Cloud experience.
• Docker and CI/CD experience.
• Elasticsearch / OpenSearch.
• Redis and Varnish.
• Experience with payment gateway, ERP, CRM or PIM integrations.
• Experience with React, Vue.js or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment

What you will be doing:

• Develop, maintain and enhance Magento 2 e-commerce platforms.
• Design and develop custom Magento modules and extensions.
• Build and maintain integrations with third-party systems and APIs.
• Troubleshoot complex application and production issues.
• optimize applications for performance, scalability and security.
• Work with Magento themes, layouts and frontend functionality.
• Conduct code reviews and maintain development standards.
• Participate in technical design and architecture discussions.

Reference number for this position is GZ61503 which is a permanent position based in Midrand Waterfall offering a salary of R1m per annum, negotiable based on experience and ability.
