Survivors

In the run up to Breast Cancer Awareness month in October there is plenty of activity to raise awareness of this disease - no longer the automatic death sentence that it once was thanks to improved detection methods. Women who have regular screening mammographies and who examine their own breasts regularly have a far higher chance of detecting any tumour early enough for a total cure. The Estie Courage Award was instigated to celebrate the women who have survived breast cancer with courage and hope. Read about "Gauteng's pinkest, most fabulous, most fashionable, most fun fundraiser" - raise money for breast cancer research through your company, nominate a survivor. Above all, see breast cancer and many other cancers as survivable diseases and take the time to give hope to those who are unlucky enough to develop this still widely feared disease.
