History
Scan Display was formed in 1996. The company's founders, Justin and Alex Hawes, saw the growth of the global and local exhibition industries as an opportunity to create a business in the visual communications market.

Since its inception, Scan has grown at an exceptional rate and has emerged as a market leader in Southern Africa.

Scan is a specialist provider of exhibition, display and presentation products.

Its product range encompasses the full spectrum of displays, extending from large custom-built exhibition stands and portable systems to banner systems, brochure holders, display cases and clip frames.

Scan's head office is in Rosebank, Johannesburg. The company has branches in Cape Town, Durban, Gaborone and Lagos, and distributors in Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Windhoek and Lusaka.

Scan also has the support of a global network, with partners in Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Belgium and Turkey.

The Scan Display BEE Trust has been established to empower previously disadvantaged staff members who are involved in the day-to-day running of the business. Through the trust these staff members collectively own 27% of the company.

In addition, the company has a number of BEE programmes in place, including:

• Siyacima Solutions, a group of unemployed matriculants who assist with marketing projects on an ad hoc basis.
  
• The training of the company's assembly staff as part of a Skills Transfer programme.
  
• A learnership programme to train matriculants in basic office, telephone and computer skills.

Awards
Scan's clients have won numerous awards for their Scan-designed and -built stands.

Scan too has received accolades for its designs:

• In 2005 and 2006 Scan took top honours at the Markex shows, winning the Large Stand Award at both Markex Jhb and Markex Cape.
• In November 2005, Scan won three awards at the Exhibition Association of Southern Africa's prestigious annual awards banquet. In an unprecedented achievement, the company won four awards in 2004.
