Biz Charity Challenge: let's all help together

1 Nov 2012 08:222 comments4 BizLikes
With the festive season fast approaching, Bizcommunity.com would like to challenge our readers, clients and partners to think of those less fortunate. Help us raise funds, bedding and toys for our two chosen charities and the company raising the most will be given two free press office releases for the festive season, in the industry of your choice, to promote whatever you like.
The challenge will run 1 November to 30 November 2012 and delivery to the two Cape-based charities - Sarah Fox Children's Convalescent Hospital and Douglas Murray Memorial Home for the Aged - will be in early December.

A follow-up roll-of-honour story here on Biz will have all the participating organisations' names and links to websites, and the winning contributor will get a special mention and two press office releases of its own to use as it likes.

How to participate:
  • Email Biz Charity Challenge 2012 on to state your commitment.
  • Start your collection by gathering from staff, clients, friends and whomever you can.
  • Cash contributions may be deposited straight into the charities' accounts; details and reference codes will be supplied on request, so that the winner may be tracked.
  • Send weekly photos of your progress for social media postings.
  • Once the goods and/or money have been collected, deliver to the Biz Cape Town office by 30 November or to the Johannesburg office by 28 November. The Jozi office will forward on to head office.
  • Closing date: 30 November 2012
  • Hashtag: #BizCharityChallenge
The charities:
  • Sarah Fox Children's Convalescent Hospital: The mission of the hospital is to provide expert nursing and medical care, in a homely and loving environment, for infants and children recovering from acute medical and surgical conditions who are, for social or medical reasons, unable to return to their own homes. The hospital also provides temporary care and education for infants and children who need tender loving care in a place of safety for social reasons.

Address: 6 Petunia Street, Silvertown, Athlone, 7764 (Cape Town)
    Tel +27 (0)21 637 1302
    Email

  • Douglas Murray Memorial Home for the Aged: Located in the suburb of Retreat, the home was established in 1969 and provides residential nursing care to approximately 88 elderly and frail residents on a 24/7 basis. The majority of the residents at the home are social pensioners who come from poor and dysfunctional backgrounds.

Address: 53 Gordon Searle Street, off 12th Avenue, Retreat, 7945.

As 2013 starts to knock on the door, let's all help together to make the festive season more memorable for those less fortunate than us - the challenge now!
