Highveld reshuffles line-up

“94.7 Highveld Stereo has a strong focus on investing in talent long-term and giving people the platform to develop on-air,” said 94.7 Highveld Stereo station manager Ravi Naidoo.

“It's great to see more women on our line-up and more freelancers given an opportunity to have their own show and grow their profiles. If you look at the majority of presenters, all of them have come from being trainee presenters to having their own shows. It's incredible to see them grow within the industry.”

From Monday, 3 September, Crystal Arnold will be hosting the early morning show 4am – 6am on weekdays. Arnold has freelanced for the station for three years and is reported to have tremendous knowledge of the radio industry.

“We were looking for someone who could entertain listeners as they wake up and keep them entertained until the start of the breakfast show,” said Naidoo. “Crystal has the right personality for this timeslot. She's enthusiastic, passionate about music and has a natural flair for radio.”

Danger boy

Danger Boy, a popular character in South African radio among the 18 – 31-year-old age group, has joined Grant Nash and Anele Mdoda's show (weekdays 7pm – 10pm).

The World Chart show, featuring the top 20 international hits, will continue on Saturday nights between 6pm and 8pm. The World Chart show tabulates the most listened-to pop songs on the planet, based on the playlists of hundreds of top radio stations worldwide. It also delivers a mix of music news, interviews, celebrity gossip, correspondent reports from affiliate stations and new music, introduced as Hits on the Horizon and Border Breakouts.

Julio Garcia, who won 94.7 Highveld Stereo's Hot Jocks in 2002 (a search for new radio DJ talent), will be taking over Weekend Breakfast on Saturday mornings (followed by the Best of RAW 9am – 10am), and on Sunday mornings 6am – 10am respectively.

Garcia will continue presenting the Homebrew show, which showcases the very best in South African music on Sundays 6pm – 8pm, with the first hour of the show featuring live interviews with local bands, followed by the Homebrew Top 10 countdown (the top 10 SA songs in Joburg according to listeners' votes).

Take 40 SA

Mark Pilgrim will continue to present the Take 40 SA (the 40 biggest hits as voted for by listeners) 10am – 2pm on Saturdays and the Long Lost Classics show (music from the eighties, nineties and naughties) 10am –2pm on Sundays.

Patrick Hayworth has moved timeslots and will now be presenting the 2pm – 6pm show on weekends.

Sammy T will present the Saturday night Hot Mix show – a selection of current music and club classics – from 8pm to midnight.

On Sunday night, Ground Patrol's Carol Ralefeta will take over her own timeslot between 8pm and midnight.

The weekday overnight slot, 1am – 5am Monday to Friday, will feature a selection of freelance presenters on a rotational basis. The 12am – 6 am on Saturday and 1am –6am slot on Sunday mornings will be reserved for trainee presenters.
