Programme in occupational hygiene

The course provides delegates with the required knowledge and skills to anticipate, recognise and control environmental factors and stressors that may cause adverse health effects or disease to workers. Candidates are taught how to conduct occupational health risk assessments, how to design occupational hygiene programmes and what information needs to be included in induction programmes. It also covers occupational hygiene research and statistical analysis, quality management systems (including OHSAS 8000) and auditing.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course delegates should be competent to:
• Successfully identify work related stressors;
• Conduct occupational health risk assessments;
• Measure and interpret results of stressors encountered during day-to-day/non-specialised occupational hygiene surveys;
• Design an occupational hygiene programme;
• Develop a health and safety induction programme;
• Conduct research in occupational hygiene and perform statistical analysis;
• Implement quality management systems.
