Parliament receives unqualified audit

Parliament said on Wednesday (11 September) it has been given an unqualified audit for the past financial year.

However, Auditor-General Terence Nombembe had raised two matters: the payment of some suppliers after more than 30 days and the legislature's failure to meet 44% of its performance targets.

Parliament's liaison office said the latter was largely due to the way performance targets were framed and that this would be reviewed.

Regarding the payment of its suppliers, Parliament said it would adopt a recommendation by Nombembe that timely payment be made part of the performance objectives of all relevant officials.
