Newcastle youth benefit from Samsung Smart School

Samsung Electronics SA will deliver its first Smart School solution in KwaZulu-Natal by handing over a complete digital education package to the community of Madadeni in Newcastle.

Samsung SA has sponsored equipment in aid of delivery of education and skills programmes for the youth in the township and rural communities of Newcastle. Initiated by the Open Futures Foundation, this partnership will see Samsung deliver a complete digital education package.

The Open Futures Foundation programme aims to support youth in Newcastle with skills to enable them to start their own businesses, register for tertiary education, or find secure employment. As part of proceedings on the day, Open Futures is encouraging the youth of Madadeni and surrounding areas to attend and register for the skills training programme scheduled to start in January 2015.

The equipment handover will be facilitated by Mr Pitso Kekana, head of corporate citizenship for Samsung; in attendance will be various local government leaders and youth organisations.
