Nano-seconds crisis response

This intensive workshop deals with preparing for a crisis (in advance), handling the reality and communication aspects of a crisis when one arises, formulating a strategy and deciding on a plan of action to protect your reputation, minimize damage and, if possible, turn things around. It incorporates best practice thinking from the fields of crisis management, crisis communication, PR, emergency response, social media and strategic planning.

What has Ebola, the E-toll saga, shopping centre burglaries, missing planes and the horrific attack on a nurse at Helen Joseph have in common? These incidents and events stretch organisations' ability to cope with the reality and communication challenges that emerge. A crisis contains the highest potential to destroy a company's reputation, brand and share value. How a company reacts and communicates, improves perceptions and speeds recovery. That 'how' is depended on organisational capability. Wikipedia defines capability as the ability to perform actions. As it applies to crisis management, capability is the sum of capacity and ability.

If you would therefore like to enhance your own ability or your crisis team's capacity, you will not want to miss my Nano-Seconds Crisis Response workshop that I will facilitate from 28 - 29 October at the Apollo Hotel in Randburg, Johannesburg. This workshop is a must attend for crisis team members, business continuity specialists, PR and communication, emergency management and health and safety personnel.

During these two days, we will take an in depth look at crisis management and crisis communication in a nano-seconds world. The workshop incorporates best practice thinking from the fields of crisis management, crisis communication, PR, emergency response, social media and strategic planning. It will be an intensive experience that will put you through the paces of crisis management and crisis communications to help you avoid or mitigate the damage that can come to a brand and reputation. I will share experiences and insights in developing a crisis plan, managing a team to execute that plan and how to guide an organization through its inevitable stormy seas. This workshop deals with preparing for a crisis (in advance), handling the reality and communication aspects of a crisis when one arises, formulating a strategy and deciding on a plan of action to protect your reputation, minimise damage and, if possible, turn things around. It prepares you to be a crisis leader i.e. a person who understands both the art and science of crisis response, has the competencies (knowledge, skills and attitude) to lead an organisation in a time of duress and take the appropriate action under the circumstances.
