Massmart's 26-week total sales up 8.9% to R32.3bn
Retailer Massmart Group (MSM) said on Tuesday its total sales in the 26 weeks to June were up 8.9% to R32.3bn‚ from the similar period a year ago. Annual product inflation was estimated at 2.9% while comparable store sales increased by 5.5%.
Total sales in Massdiscounters increased by 9.0% (3.7% comparable) with inflation of 0.5%; Masswarehouse increased by 13.6% (6.9% comparable) with inflation of 2.6%; Massbuild increased by 9.0% (9.0% comparable) with inflation of 3.1%; and Masscash increased by 5.5% (4.2% comparable) with inflation of 4.6%.
The interim results are expected on August 22.
