South African apps earn international praiseGKxIM, a specialist mobile creative and technology agency, has launched augmented reality apps that are educational aids, receiving international media attention at two major trade shows. ![]() Founded by creative Graham Kelly and technologist Ian Morrison, its 'Color the World' app is a 3D colouring app, turning an iPad into a 3D colouring book, complete with high-end animation and interactive storytelling. The app was recently singled out for praise at two major trade shows: CES and the American International Toy Fair. The same app also created a stir at last week's American International Toy Fair, where over 100,000 new toys were launched. Educational and funThe companion app - an Augmented Reality (AR) game called Rainbow Racing - has recently been featured on ABC News amongst others. This app lets kids race down AR rainbows, steering via the iPad's built-in accelerometer. Points are earned by collecting letters to spell out words, making the app educational as well as fun. In addition, the agency is developing a campaign of apps and content to support the global rollout of the Drip Drops range of toys and merchandise.
