Sponsorship for para-Olympic athlete Jan NehroPara-Olympic, Jan Nehro needs sponsors to be able to compete in the 2012 para-Olympics in London. Jan Nehro is putting South Africa in the lime light. He's a blind para Olympic athlete who has run 7 Comrades Marathons, many without a guide- setting his pace alongside the able bodied competitors with just the sound of their steps to follow. In 2011, Jan competed in the IPC World Championships in New Zealand placing a sixth which places him seventh in the World rankings. Considering this talented man has no formal training, coach, financial support (other than a local fund raiser selling hand and picnic bags), specially designed diets and proper equipment. It's clear that this achievement is anything short of a miracle. Just imagine the possibilities if he had some form of help? Jan met his guide, Duane Fortuin, in 2003 and the pair have trained together ever since. They live miles apart and often can't afford the transportation costs of getting together to train, but somehow they still do and Jan Nehro has now been personally chosen for this years 2012 para-Olympics in London. To compete and train at this level you need a lot of specific sport science input such as physiotherapy, biokenetics, gym training, supplements, an advanced nutritional plan and training gear. SASCOC (the National Federation) will not financially support an athlete unless they are ranked in the top four internationally. Jan is willing to have you use his name and face for any publicity you see fit as it could benefit both him and you. We are asking you to consider helping this blind athlete with any financial assistance or sponsorship as the 2012 para Olympics are nearly upon us. Jan's accomplishments: Completed seven Comrades Marathons. (Personal best time of 7:23 in 2000) Karoo Ultra Marathon 80km- 6:03 Represented Western Province at SASAPD (track and field). Represented South Africa at IPC World Championships in New Zealand in 2011. W.P.S.A.P.D Award 2011- Recognition of excellence in Sport. Summary of the budget worked out for Jan and Duane for 1 month: Training support: physiotherapy R3000; other (ice baths, gym, bio) R600; competitions (entry fees and transportation) R400; coaching fees R1000; total R5000. Once off training kit: tracksuits R3000; training shoes R2800; spikes R2400; running clothes R2000; total (once off) R10200 Grand total R5650p/m Jan Nehro is a very simple man, with very few expectations. I know what could mean very little to us would mean the world to him and could make or break his athletic career. Any donations or sponsorships would be an unexpected gift for Jan. If you wish to contribute, please leave a reference of your name and contact details so Jan can personally thank you.
