South African wins prize in ABB photo competition A photograph from South Africa, depicting the light that electricity brings to people's lives, was one of 25 winning pictures selected from 450 entries from 38 countries in the ABB power and automation technology group's 2005 international photo competition.
The competition invited photographers around the world to highlight the primary benefits of the company's business activities by portraying one or more of ABB three main business themes: power grid reliability, energy savings and increased industrial productivity. Winning entries in each category received $500 and the overall winners in each category took home $1,000. ABB is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impact. The group operates in about 100 countries, including Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and employs around 103,000 people.
