Daveyton to get new shopping centre

Investec Property is developing a new 25 000m square shopping centre in Mayfield, Daveyton, to be known as Mayfield Square‚ that is significantly larger than any other retail centre in the area according to Darryl Mayers, head of the company's retail division.

Mayfield Square will be anchored by Pick 'n Pay and Shoprite. Other tenants include Edcon‚ Truworths‚ Foschini‚ Ackermans‚ Pep‚ Morkels‚ Clicks‚ Barnetts and Ellerines‚ with Nedbank‚ Capitec Bank and African Bank also represented. A centrally located food court will connect the main shopping and recreational areas.

Mayers says the company intends to focus on connecting communities to major retailers in areas where there is strong demand from both.

He says that Mayfield is ideally situated to give the immediate community convenient access to essential services and high levels of interest from retailers‚ is stimulating the development.

Ground is expected to be broken early in 2013‚ and the centre should be opened a year later.
