SA's food and beverages industry generated a total income of R3.711 billion in May‚ representing a 9.9% year-on-year (y/y) rise‚ according to data released by Statistics SA on Monday.
The main contributors to the annual growth rate of 9.9% y/y in total income for May 2012 were restaurants and coffee shops (up 9.2% y/y) and takeaway and fast-food outlets (up 14.1% y/y).
The total income generated by the food and beverages industry in the first five months of 2012 rose by 7.0% y/y.
