5 000 new jobs created in first quarterStatistics South Africa says formal employment rose marginally in the first quarter of this year with 5 000 people being employed in new jobs in the non-agricultural sector. StatsSA's Quarterly Employment Statistics showed there in January there were 8 379 000 people employed throughout South Africa and employees were paid for R347,7-billion during the quarter, 4,8% less than in the previous quarter.
