Spurwing International Horse Trials and CCI

The Spurwing International Horse Trials is one of the countries's premier FEI two star three-day events.

Set in the magnificent Karkloof valley, KZN, and with forests as the backdrop for the main arena activities, the horse trial offers a fantastic opportunity to see some of the country's finest event riders and horses compete against one another in a truly spectacular location.
The 2008 Spurwing International Horse Trials takes place on the 17th - 19th October.
Eventing in South Africa has grown in popularity over the past few years with some of the top venues being in KZN. Karkloof Polo Club is no exception with a world class, 4.6 km, cross-country track designed by our very own James Arathoon and superb club facilities overlooking the showjumping arena and surrounding countryside.
This year a new “purpose built” 1200m2 water complex has been constructed on the new extended track and will be a stunning spot for spectators.
We encourage spectators to come out and spend some time with us at the club on either Friday for the dressage, Saturday for the cross country or Sunday for the showjumping.
Entrance is free on all three days and home-cooked catering is available at the comfortable clubhouse.
The Karkloof Polo Club is 17km east of Howick on the Karkloof road which is well signposted.

This year we are launching our new CCI2** and CIC2**cross country course which has a total of 34 jumping efforts over a distance of 4.6 km. This usually proves to be an exciting spectator event and attracts the very best South African horses and riders.

The show will be publicised in leading newspapers prior to the date of the competition and will attract a great deal of public interest. The Cross Country phase, which attracts the greater public interest, will be held on Sunday.

We are offering the following limited advertising opportunities that will present excellent mileage to your company.

Fixed Cross Country Jumps: R1 000 to R10 000
(Depending on design and position of jump)

Portable Cross Country Jumps:
A new concept in Sport Sponsorship will be launched at the Spurwing Horse Trials in October this year.

In line with international trends, many more portable jumps will be used in the Cross-country courses at the Karkloof Polo Club this year when the new CCI2** track will be opened for the first time in South Africa. This level of competition will be the highest ever run and will be sure to draw large crowds of spectators.

The Jumps
A new style of durable “Portable Jump” is being constructed this year using an ultra strong galvanised steel chassis clad in high strength UV resistant artificial timber. These jumps will have an estimated life of more than 15 years. The jumps are designed with safety in mind and will also speed up the time it takes to build a course.

These portable jumps are available to corporate sponsors for promoting their companies or products and the designs of the jumps can be adapted to represent their products, logos or themes. The designers will work with the sponsors to ensure that the sponsor gets maximum coverage without endangering horse or rider.
Costs

Each sponsor will pay for the construction of their own jumps which could cost between R3000 to R12 000 depending on size and final decoration. The jump will remain the property of the sponsor for a period of five years and will be leased to Spurwing Horse Trials for free for this period. At the end of five years, Spurwing Horse Trials will take over ownership of the jump but the sponsor will still be able to retain advertising rights on the jump if the annual rights fees are paid. An annual rights fee of R1000 (escalating at 5% per annum) will be charged each year to the sponsor for each complex of jumps. These fees are used for maintenance, storage, positioning and decoration.

Alternatively if you would like to donate products representative of your company, we would be very grateful.

Sponsors will:
• Have their names mentioned in the lead-up article in the newspaper
• Be publicly acknowledged on the day of the event by means of badges and commentary
• Have their names printed in the programme
• Sponsorship of Cross-Country will entitle you to place advertising boards or company banners and equipment at your jump which may be incorporated into the design of the jump.
• Be provided with lunch and drinks

Should you be willing to advertise or sponsor a jump at this exciting event, please contact us as soon as possible.
