Caesarstone Kitchen Competition opens

For the third year, Caesarstone, global pioneers of innovative materials and manufacturing techniques, is seeking out six originally South African kitchens, which offer international appeal. Both fluidic and sculptural, these kitchens must be engineered to perform and function beautifully, both inside and outside. Only designs installed from 1 June 2011 - 31 July 2012 (the closing date) will be considered.

The competition is looking for the kitchen design that:

Pushes the boundaries of originality and authenticity
Creates a kitchen experience that would stand comfortably anywhere in the world
Suggests the ultimate design statement
Injects the wow factor

The six finalists will be showcased on the Expresso Morning show on SABC 3 TV and each designer will be given the opportunity to explain his or her design and design philosophy. The winning 2012 Caesarstone Kitchen Designer will feature in a separate insert and be interviewed on the Expresso Morning Show on SABC 3 TV showcasing the winning design and afforded status as Caesarstone Kitchen Designer 2012.

The judges will select the top six finalists, which will be posted onto the company's website. The company will professionally photograph all six completed kitchens.

Judges, judging

The judges are Aidan Bennetts of Aidan Bennetts Interior Design, Darren Bester of It Is Design and Elloise Rudman of Sharson Projects. Their criteria will be:

Initial wow factor
Creativity & innovation in design
Integration of product
Design solution resolved
Presentation
