Weekend breakfast with Toys for Joy

By donating a toy in good condition, you could assist in making this festive season a special one by answering the wishes of those kids usually alone around Christmas.

5FM will be hosting a special fun day and live broadcast of Kevin Fine's Rise N Fine weekend breakfast show (7-10am) from Meltz in Fourways View Mall, Fourways, Johannesburg this Saturday, 24 November – in celebration of the 5FM/Meltz Toys for Joy charity drive.

5FM/Meltz Toys for Joy gives South Africans the incredible opportunity to care for the children from Child Welfare Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. 5FM/Meltz Toys For Joy collection boxes are in Meltz stores nationwide until 30 November. For every toy donated, Meltz is donating R1 to Child Welfare.

Over 1000 toys have already been collected, including cash donations of over R50 000. “In between all the fun and entertainment that is the 5FM lifestyle, it is very important to also consider those kids less fortunate than us during the holidays. We hope to bring some cheer and a whole bunch of smiles to those receiving gifts via this inspiring charity initiative. As media partner, it is our aim to spread the word nationally about what our listeners can do to assist us in giving something back to the community” says Aisha Mohamed, 5FM marketing manager.

Kevin Fine has invited his 5FM weekend breakfast listeners to come lend their support to this worthy cause and party with the kids on Saturday at Meltz in Fourways. Apart from breakfast, yummy treats and the best 5FM music, a few other surprises such as a jumping castle, magician, balloon sculptor, facepainter and loads of exciting goodies (such as gift vouchers, prize hampers and candyfloss and popcorn machines) are lined up for the day. The first 50 people to also enter the Meltz Fourways View Mall-store on Saturday will each receive a 20% discount voucher. A group of 15 Harley Davidson drivers are popping in around 9am to collect some toys for their own Toy Run distribution project.

“It's our end of year function! But this one is a wholesome one especially for the kids. We are lending our voice and support to a very important charity initiative. See you for breakfast on Saturday!” says 5FM's Kevin Fine.
